This is my first blog post

Tomorrow I start a new "road trip," but it's really only half a road trip. Basically, there is Phase 1: Great American Road Trip (GART), and then there's Phase 2: South East Asian Bonanza (SEAB, which is not as fortuitous of an acronym).

I've never had a blog before, but I think it's about time I start one, because I have a lot of thoughts about a lot of things, and they're usually quite pointless, like most blog posts. Apparently I also have a blog writing style that utilizes excessive commas and clauses.

OK DAVE GET IT TOGETHER. The problem with blogs is that there's no focus! Therefore, here is the mission statement for this blog: 1) Document my vacation; 2) Provide meta-commentary on blogging. I doubt I'll actually do the second one, but that's what this post is about so I wanted to mention it for the sake of completeness.

Here's where I'm going -- Phase 1:

2) Grand Tetons
3) Salt Lake City (sup Perkins)
4) Bryce Canyon
5) Grand Canyon
6) Joshua Tree
7) San Diego Zoo (sup Tolivigrace)
8) LA
9) Up the Cali coast to SF (sup gracypoo)

Phase 2 is Asia but I'm tired of writing. THERE WILL BE MORE I PROMISE.
