Dirty feet

I just took a shower. But my feet are still dirty! What's that all about? Am I doomed to have dirty feet forever? Probably! Only Bigfoot and hobbits will like me!

Ps. Isn't it cool that my location is actually "Moose"?

It was a dark and stormy night

It was. And our tent leaked. This is how I felt at night:

The Atlantic

Disclaimer: this post has nothing to do with traveling.

The most recent issue of the Atlantic has a fascinating/terrifying story about Israel, Iran, and the Obama Administration. The main takeaway is that we had all better hope Obama's strategy with Iran (sanctions steadily increasing in intensity and an open hand to return to the negotiating table) had better work. Otherwise, israel will bomb Iran and then things will basically go to hell. Israel will become even more isolated, including from its only real ally (us) gas prices will skyrocket, launching us into a new recession, and other bad things will happen. Anyway, the article is by Jeff Goldberg, who some people don't like, but I found it very fair and well reported. Go read

Lake Solitude

My all time fave hike is to Lake Solitude, through Cascade Canyon in the Grand Tetons. My bro and I did all 17 miles of it yesterday and it was fantastic. Saw 6 moose (2 bulls, 2 cows, and 2 calves!) and lots of pikas, mule deer, and yellow bellied marmots. The weather was perfect and we weren't even ridiculously tires by the end, like we were last year.

Unfortunately, there was a huge rain storm last night and the temp dropped to the mid 30s, so we had a cold and wet night. Our tent works well for light to steady rain, but when it's heavy rain for a while, the tent leaks in some spots, like over my face. Blargh.

Anyway, want to see some pics?
